What is yoga therapy?

"Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga.

IAYT Educational Standards for the Training of Yoga Therapists"

Yoga therapy is done on a one to one basis and involves an initial assessment of one to two hours. Based on the assessment asanas (poses), pranayama (breathing exercises), meditations, mudras, etc. are chosen that are most beneficial for any issues that may be present.  A one hour follow-up appointment is advised within one to three weeks of assessment to go over progress. It is the aim of yoga therapy to give the student the tools necessary for them to develop a home practice that will benefit their specific needs.

You should always consult with your doctor before starting any physical practice.

An intake form will be emailed to you to fill out and submit before coming to the first appointment. First appointment involves going over the intake form, checking alignment and range of motion & then the practice of exercises chosen specifically for you. The follow up looks at progress, makes necessary changes, possibly adding new exercises to your program. Cost of Yoga Therapy is $150.00 and includes up to a two hour assessment and a one hour follow up appointment.
