Maritime Yoga Retreat - a new beginning

“Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.” Karen Ravn

August 2016 marks the start of a new beginning in my life. I went on a road trip to the Maritimes with my best buddy Susan to look at properties where I could live and start running yoga retreats and I found the perfect spot in Freeport, Nova Scotia. It really was a wonderful visit and I fell in love with the location and the people I met while there; they are just so warm, friendly and helpful. All the right ingredients to make a fantastic yoga retreat are available here; a gorgeous, natural setting, unique activities, great local artisans, the best seafood you could ask for (or not), at least twice daily yoga and a cosy bed to rest your weary self on after a long fulfilling day.

An offer was put in on a house but not accepted so off we went towards home with plans to look at a couple more places on the way. We received a call later that day and what do you know; my offer got accepted!

It is amazing that you can arrange almost all of this via the internet; all my connections for the retreat were made from either my laptop or telephone. I have the cook lined up, the expert on tidal life to do the nature walks, a local artisan to do the jewelry workshop and offer tarot readings, whale watching planned, an electrician and a contractor on board to prepare the yoga studio and an article placed in their local paper "Passages" to introduce myself. It is amazing how fast the past five months have gone, it felt like it was going to be a long wait but I am less than three months till arrival. My yoga classes that I teach in St.Catharines are winding down but I won't actually be finished until the 7th of April. That is going to be the hardest thing, saying goodbye to the most amazing people. I have such terrific students and friends in the yoga community and they have been the main part of my life for the last ten years. It is my biggest hope that they come to see me and experience life in Freeport. Looks like I may already have one of the weeks booked for the retreat, keep your fingers crossed! I will keep you updated as things progress.
